Fully mechanized sesame at harvest

For fully mechanized harvest, the capsules were modified so that the seed
would be retained during the 30-50 days it takes for the crop to dry down naturally.
However, the capsules must release the seed in the combine with minimal physical force.

Once the field is dry enough for the seed to have 6% moisture or less, the combine
can harvest the sesame direct using either a row crop header or a platform header.

Most of the cleaning is done in the combine and then trucked to a processing plant for further cleaning.
